Report from Rome, this year’s Vinoforum event
What is a week like when Villa Borghese is filled with the aroma of 3,200 wines and the spices from the kitchens of 42 chefs? This year, Vinoforum took place on the picturesque stage of Piazza di Siena, where every day wrote a new chapter in the great book of flavors and experiences. Coninvest was there too, and here is our report on the experience.
It is worth first providing some background information on the size and status of the event. Vinoforum has become one of the largest and most prestigious gastronomic events in Italy. On the lawns of the iconic Piazza di Siena at Villa Borghese, this year it hosted seven evenings of large-scale tastings and themed dinners, bringing together the greatest Italian chefs, pizza masters and wineries.
The Vinoforum aims to offer Romans and tourists visiting the city a whole week of tastings, haute cuisine dinners, culture and inspiration – all based around the best Italian products. Founded in 2004, the event has grown to become the largest wine and gastronomy event not only in Rome but also in Central and Southern Italy, bringing together the most important Italian wineries and chefs every year.
This year’s 22nd event was held on 16,000 square metres. 3,200 lots from 800 wineries awaited visitors. And what made the dinners so special was that the menus were based around a classic film, combining gastronomy with the art of cinema.
The stands were made elegant by Pedrali designer furniture, while Berkel slicers looked like gastronomic jewels – both brands are available in Hungary from Coninvest, so you can experience this authentic Italian style at home too.
Which stand would we highlight? The Pasta Molisana stand was certainly a world apart. In front of a giant projector, a show kitchen opened up, where every night a different chef dreamed up a menu and the sommelier painted the dishes with wine. Starters, main courses, desserts – each one a new face of a Pasta Molisana product. At the dinner, the famous film director Enrico Vanzina himself was at our table – a moment we will never forget. Our table with Italian designers, architects, industrial kitchen and Berkel distributors turned into an inspiring professional meeting. These conversations really show that gastronomy is not just about food – it’s about community, culture and creativity.
For me, as CEO of Coninvest, these international impulses resonate in my daily life. The expertise, creativity and respect for tradition of the Italians are a benchmark and an inspiration for me. I believe that this is the approach through which we can always offer our clients a modern, creative and premium service.
Vinoforum is not just a gastronomic event, it is a celebration. This year it is a celebration of wine, design, film and community. A story that began in Rome but continues every day here in our country, including at the tables of Coninvest.
