How the Ensana Grand Hotel’s buffet counter was built with Coninvest
In a hotel dining room, the buffet counter rarely receives special attention – even though it’s one of the busiest areas during daily operations. It doesn’t serve just one function, but several at once, and if the system isn’t set up just right, it’s noticeable with every single service.
In the case of the Ensana Grand Hotel, Coninvest’s task was clear: to design and build a modern and elegant buffet counter.
One space, multiple functions
The counter isn’t designed for just one meal. Breakfast is served here every day, and occasionally lunch and dinner are served here as well. The hall also hosts wedding receptions, and when buffet service is provided for these events, the food is served from this same counter. This type of multifunctional use determined from the very beginning what kind of system would need to operate behind the scenes.
When we don’t design, only execute
In this project, the design work was not handled by Coninvest. The counter system was created based on an interior designer’s concept, and Coninvest’s role focused on the execution. This type of division of labor is not unusual, but it requires a different mindset: the task is not to develop the concept, but to accurately implement an existing plan in accordance with the technical requirements.
Stone covering, multiple suppliers
Cooperation was one of the key aspects of the construction.
“Coninvest did not supply the juice and coffee machines, so precise cooperation with other companies was the most important task in these areas,” explains Dániel Kanyik, a sales representative at Coninvest.
The entire countertop is covered in stone, which was delivered and precisely installed by professional stonemason partners – also in perfect coordination with Coninvest’s work. In a project like this, the challenge rarely lies in a single piece of equipment, but rather in ensuring that the work of different suppliers comes together to form a single, flawlessly functioning whole.
The heart of the counter
The large counter features a heated section and a chilled section, the latter for freshly prepared dishes, salads, and fruits. A separate refrigerated display counter serves desserts, while two smaller counters house the juice and coffee machines, which were provided by other supplier partners.
What ultimately matters
The buffet counter at the Ensana Grand Hotel is not a successful project simply because it incorporates a single spectacular technological solution. It is successful because it reliably fulfills the tasks entrusted to it every day, in every situation – whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a wedding.
