A good bar counter works unnoticed

Las Vegas Casino, where the guest experience is backed by engineering precision

Most guests see only the end result when they look at a bar counter. A cocktail prepared in a flash, bartenders working with confident movements, and continuous service even during the busiest times.

Behind the scenes, however, a well-designed system is at work. A system in which every centimeter, every storage unit, and every technological component serves a single purpose: to ensure that service is fast, efficient, and error-free. This was precisely the goal for the Las Vegas Casino bar project.

The kitchen technology design for the project was carried out by István Dybisewszky, designer at Coninvest, whose task was to create a premium bar concept capable of both preparing high-quality cocktails and handling extremely high guest traffic. Dániel Kanyik, sales representative at Coninvest, was responsible for selling the project and overseeing its implementation.

The challenge: every square centimeter counts

One of the project’s greatest challenges was making optimal use of the available space.

The client’s expectation was to create a bar that serves premium-quality drinks while remaining able to operate continuously even during peak hours. To achieve this, a significant amount of equipment, refrigeration, storage capacity, and preparation facilities had to be accommodated within a relatively compact space.

A key consideration during the design process was to ensure that staff movements did not cross paths, that no dead zones were created, and that all necessary equipment was in the right place.

The goal: premium quality with high volume

The project was defined by an operational model that Dani describes as the “High-Volume Craft Excellence” approach. The essence of this is that the bar should be able to prepare high-quality, craft-style drinks while handling a volume of business that rivals that of a festival or major event.

Most bars tend to lean in one direction or the other. They either focus on quality and operate at a slower pace, or they prioritize fast service. For the Las Vegas Casino project, the goal was to achieve both at the same time.

The guest doesn’t see it, yet everything depends on it

One of the keys to a bar’s operation is the seamless coordination between the guest area and the back-of-house service area.

The back-of-house areas house the processes that do not take place in front of the guests: preparation, restocking of ingredients, ice production, and backup dishwashing capacity.

The system is designed so that clean glasses, fresh ingredients, and necessary equipment are continuously delivered to the work areas, while bartenders do not have to leave their workstations. All the guest notices is that everything runs smoothly.

Ergonomics is not just a matter of comfort

In Coninvest’s design philosophy, ergonomics is not primarily about comfort, but about efficiency. Accordingly, the bar counter at the Las Vegas Casino was designed so that work processes can be carried out with as few movements as possible.

The recessed speed rails reduce strain on the shoulders and back. The integrated sinks, ice bins, and glass chillers are positioned at hand height. Each workstation functions as a standalone unit, so the bartender does not have to constantly move to other areas. This may seem like a minor detail at first, but during a peak period lasting several hours, it makes a significant difference in the workload on staff.

Customised system tailored to the space’s conditions

The project was significantly influenced by the existing architectural conditions.

The fixed mechanical connections and load-bearing structures posed significant constraints during the design process. Coninvest’s proprietary modular stainless steel shelving system provided a solution to this challenge. Thanks to custom manufacturing, the water lines, mechanical connections, cooling systems, and exhaust vents could be integrated into the structure almost invisibly, while still making maximum use of the available space.

The difference lies in the details

One of the most exciting elements of the project is the smart cooling system under the counter.

The multi-temperature cooling modules store ice, fresh fruit, and decorations, as well as pre-chilled glasses, in separate zones. All of this is achieved through digital control and with minimal space requirements. This isn’t a flashy solution, but it results in significant time savings and a smoother workflow during day-to-day operations.

When the numbers prove the design right

Ultimately, the project’s success was validated not by its appearance, but by its performance. Service times were significantly reduced, spill losses were minimized, and the counter’s throughput exceeded initial expectations.

Based on feedback from staff, physical strain has also noticeably decreased, which not only improves working conditions in the long term but also has a direct impact on service quality.

For guests, the most important aspects of the experience are fast service, high-quality drinks, and the connection they form with the bartender. However, this requires a back-end system that seamlessly supports every workflow.
